Kabaray

What is Kabaray? You decide. But for the purposes of this brief online description it is a salacious dive into the depths of what we call femininity. Italy, Germany, Portugal, and Jordan come together after dark to expose uncomfortable truths and comfortable untruths about what it is to occupy a female-identifying body in this modern age.

"It only happens once"
Ana Coltatu Luigi Ambrosio

Two rooms,
two bodies,
some words.
Ripples of the world we live in.
Ingredients: 2 cups of Questions,
10 tbsp of Disappointment,
5 tbs of Sarcasm
and a pinch of fakeness.
All mixed well with a lightly flavoured Italian-Romanian drama.
The perfect recipe for success.
It only happens once…
…and that’s ridiculous.

This has been coming a long time now
Ruy Zambrano

In this duet between a body and it’s digital double, we take a look at Gothic Horror through a new lens. What happens when these two beings meet and inhabit the same space? This exploration of the uncanny fear of the strange culminates in a flurry of dance, exhaustion, and uncontrollable limbs.

A spotlight, SR. A lone figure holding a suitcase appears from the blackness. They bend down and open their case, and begin to arrange a series of objects on the floor: A small tree, a tiny ladder, a miniscule changing screen, and finally, two duck’s feathers. Spotlight cuts.

The DeAira Show
DeAira Hermani
The most disrespected person in America is the Black Woman.
The most unprotected person in America is the Black Woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black Woman. - Malcolm X. I would also add that the most sexualized person in America is the Black Woman whom no one wants relations with. The irony. The DeAira Show, a comedic solo piece that interrogates the status quo and what it means to be unapologetically Black.

Concrete Jungle
d’bi.young anitafrika
Concrete Jungle by d'bi.young anitafrika is a poetic movement-monodrama on Blackness, imprisonment and death. Blackness navigates these realities as historical narrative meets Dub theatre. Concrete Jungle defies linearity of time and space, occupying an abstract suspension in our psyche through a soundscape of electronic Dub Reggae scored by Mohammed Rowe, asking us to question our understanding of Emancipation.
